OnIslam.net is an independent website that emerged out of an initiative by the team that created and run IslamOnline.net for the past 10 years, after the idea had been embraced by a group of people with experience in the field of civil society work in
The two editorially-independent editions of OnIslam.net, in English and in Arabic, cover Islam as a religion for all aspects of life, and Muslims as international citizens. We ascribe to the values of Islam as a comprehensive value system that has many things in common with values held by the wider human society.
OnIslam.net holds no bias towards particular persons or bodies, be they political affiliated, governmental, popular, doctrinal, or other. We believe that accepting diversity and differences enriches people’s experiences and reject seclusion and stagnation.
OnIslam.net also adheres to credibility, which means that we will pay close attention to professional conduct, scientific accuracy, and accurate reporting. In the meantime, we stress the shared civilizational, social, and human responsibility.
OnIslam.net provides social and life counseling services through professional counselors who specialize in different fields of religion, society, family, development, health, and education. We also present relevant training courses to those who need them.
The message communicated through OnIslam.net is not theoretical, but is developed through pragmatism and practicality, which means a focus on the need to offer people useful knowledge and education and to teach them beneficial values and skills. This website aims to cater to people's needs and provide answers to their questions with the aim of achieving sustainable development.
Components
Both English and Arabic editions of OnIslam.net contain five key components that arise from the comprehensive roles of the institution. These five components are:
1- News: This provides information and news reports about important events concerning the world in general and Muslims in particular and the major issues that affect them, the most important of which are
2- Introducing Islam: This component is presented mainly through English website, under the name Reading Islam. This section serves as a reference for non-Muslims and new Muslims to learn about Islam in a simple and straightforward manner.
3- Human Development: This component is presented mainly through the Arabic website, under the name Namaa'. This section is intended to encourage production and human development by passing on different experiences and offering relevant training workshops.
4- Counseling: This component serves as a reference for Muslims on how their religion interacts with their daily lives. Three different services are provided that cover:
- Religion, which provides fatwas and how a Muslim can lead an interactive daily life.
- Society, which provides social counseling and discusses the social issues related to the Muslim family.
- Health and Science, which provides scientific consultations and advises with what is new in the spheres of science and health.
5- An Intellectual Component: This component is primarily meant to review and renew Islamic discourse and related practices with the aim of discussing it in a contemporary fashion that is still compatible with the roots of Islam. This component is also intended to pave the way for inter-faith dialogue and for probing the relationship between religion and life.
