Answer
Wa `alaykum as-salamu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Dear brother in Islam, we would like to thank you for the great confidence you place in us, and we implore Allah Almighty to help us serve His cause and render our work for His Sake.
First of all, it should be stressed that a Muslim must believe that no one can cause harm or benefit without Allah's Will. If a Muslim faces a medical problem he or she should seek medical treatment or ruqyah and this by no means contradicts the belief that it is Almighty Allah who is the Healer.
It is important to believe that healing is by Almighty Allah's Will and that seeking treatment by taking medicines or reading ruqyahs cannot have any effect unless Allah Almighty wills it to be so.
Responding to your question, Dr. Sano Koutoub Moustapha, deputy chairman of the International Fiqh Academy and professor of fiqh and its principles at the International Islamic University, Malaysia, states,
Thank you very much and may Allah the Almighty grant you good health and a quick recovery from whatever you are suffering from.
Surely the Qur'an is a sacred book which contains a cure for all types of sickness and pains. Therefore, a Muslim must always allocate some of his busy time to recite this noble Book and seek the protection of Almighty Allah from evils and devils. Muslims must also recite some prayers that were recommended by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for all his movements and activities.
As you may know, there is a special prayer for everything we do in our lives; for sleeping, eating, drinking, walking, interacting, dealing, and traveling, even when having marital relations. These prayers are protective and contain the beautiful names of the Almighty. Therefore, whoever continues to recite them will always be protected.
In addition, it is strongly recommended that you recite Ayat Al-Kursi.
All the time, especially after your daily Prayers. You should always recite Surat Al-Baqarah and Aal `Imran, Al-Falaq and An-Nas , and Surat Al-Ikhlas from time to time.
Having said all this, I recommend you to consult a psychiatrist who may help you to overcome the psychological problems you are faced with. Islam calls upon its followers to seek medication and cure by using all possible means and sources in addition to the divine sources such as the Qur'an and the hadith.
May Allah protect you and grant you His divine protection and cure.
