This picture, by Zerene Haddad and Don Doll, won the prize for Best Photo, as well as Best Overall Entry in the 1001 Stories of Common Ground contest, in 2011. In the photographers’ words:

Despite difficulties that exist for Iraqi refugees in any host country, there are still people from both the host and refugee communities who strive to live together beyond any barriers of cultural and religious differences. Here, an Iraqi woman and her daughter are welcomed by Sister Hala, a Syrian nun, to a Mother's Day celebration at the JRS Deir Vartan Centre in Aleppo, Syria.
