I heard about you when I was little
Your name was repeated, as you gave us mettle
It seemed to me you were someone great
Pity for those who knew you late!
Stories of you color my childhood
With grace and pride I embrace womanhood
My soul you purify, my characters you mould
For Eve you empower, justice you uphold
Love and humility fill your heart
Faith you preach at the very start
The weak you embrace, compassion you gave
The strong you discipline, for tyranny you brave
The best of manners belong to you
None will forget how you treat the Jew
For you to be kind, you don’t need kindness
Through gentleness you cure, men’s blindness
Children you love, women you respect
Neither men you ignore, nor animals you neglect
You manage to soften the hardest of hearts
You defeat misdeeds with your tenderest arts
Enemies of your truth existed from long
And till today to ignorance they belong
Isn’t it surprising, how hateful they are!
But I shall not worry, your beauty they can’t mar!
They write and act, and speak and sing
From summer to winter, and autumn to spring
To smear your name, to stain your esteem
In desperation they crawl, in deception they deem
They mock and laugh, and draw to incite
Hatred, chaos, prejudice and fight
And they claim to uphold, human rights
Ah, hypocrisy can’t tell between black and white!
We shall not, and can never, stoop so low
They ridicule our beloved, as Muhammad they don’t know
In such aggression, grace we will show
For Muhammad taught us, and to him we owe
Let us now sing, and speak and write
The truth on Muhammad shall be clear and bright
We don’t need to kill, or fight and bite
Channel the anger right, and that is might!
Brothers of faith, act with reason
Through violence you do, against the prophet, treason
How did he act, what did he do
To the ignorant and misled, who curse and boo
O Muhammad my beloved, whom I yearn to see!
Bear witness today, that I’ve defended thee
You have taught me kindness and forgiveness, to show
And this, I will let the whole world know.
