2012. What a busy long year, full of events and incidents!

Some call it a year of elections, as many nations have successfully chosen their new presidents to lead them in the coming years. This is what took place in countries like  the US,  Egypt, Russia, France…etc.

Apart from the political changes, the year also witnessed many cultural and historical events like the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II which marks the 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne, in addition to the Summer Olympics,  held in London and attracted the attention of a larger global audience.

Muslims have always been there in the middle of these events: sharing, contributing, and even celebrating. Muslim names have shown as they have excelled in many fields while exerting efforts in contributing to the development of mankind, according to the teachings of Islam.

Despite that, there are some unknown Muslim persons who have made big achievements in 2012, but their names and works did not pass through to the international media.

Onislam.net team is back again to shed light on some of Muslim figures who have made an  outstanding impact on their communities, and we aim to collect and profile them in a special folder, Muslim Stars of the Year.

So, we call on you to help us select 10 Muslim figures, who have done great achievements in different fields: be they social activists, artists, community leaders, scientists, sportspeople, Imams, and so forth.

We need you to nominate Muslim role models from your communities, providing a short biography about their background and work.
