My Child,
So much joy I had, to see you grow
Words can’t describe, eyes can’t know
Through tears and laughter, with proud I glow
Time’s too fast, why can’t it be slow?
When you begin to ask, I start to fear
That you might learn falsehood, at people you jeer
Between good and bad, it has to be clear

Oh you must have dignity, do not succumb to your peer!
I do not worry if you won’t be rich
For money can be earned, wealth can be built
Happiness will be lost if kinship you ditch
Who cares about luxury, if your life is without guilt?
I don’t care too, if you don’t get to Yale
Neither do I worry, if in exams you fail
Education has no meaning if your heart is frail
To love the unfortunate, for virtue should prevail
Forget about looks, for beauty is only skin deep
Ignore the crowd, and all that is cheap
Stand up tall, your self-worth you must keep
With honesty and patience, success you will reap
My child,
Happiness is surely, what all look for
But to get its taste you’ve got to win the war
The world will deceive you, comfort it will pour
With strength and wisdom, above all you shall soar
One day indeed, I’ll no longer be there
To guide you as I did, or to joke and share
But with every breath I’ll pray, for God is fair
That forever you’ll be noble, and that you must swear
