About Dr. Lateef:

  • Abd. Lateef Krauss Abdullah is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Social Science Study’s Community Education and Youth Studies Laboratory, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
  • Prior to that he was an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Professional Development and Continuing Education, Faculty of Educational Studies (UPM).
  • Abd. Lateef holds a doctorate from the Institute for Community & Peace Studies (UPM) in the field of youth studies. His PhD thesis work was on the development of the Muslim Religiosity-Personality Inventory (MRPI), a survey questionnaire designed to understand different aspects of Muslim religiosity among youth.
  • Abd. Lateef also holds an MSW from Columbia University (New York) and has worked for the Academy for Educational Development and Community IMPACT!, both in Washington DC, and at the Taqwa Gayong Academy in New Jersey, USA with troubled youth, both Muslim and non-Muslim.
  • He has been an online counselor and writer for both Islamonline.net and OnIslam.net since 2004. Abd. Lateef is an American who has been living in Malaysia since 2001. He is married and has 2 children.
