Kansas City – Christian residents in Kansas city have been offered a chance to call God at any time after the city installed phone booths for prayers with a ‘direct line to God’.

“It is therapeutic, that is how we lobbied them through city council,” local pastor Reverend Miles Collier told Top Kansas News.

”We said these prayer booths are not just for Christians, but for any person to take a break to close their eyes, ask out loud for what they need in life and just take a break from it all.

Why Five Times a Day?

“It is like having a free counseling session.”

Over the past few months, new phone booths have been offered in several towns in Kansas City.

According to the city’s data tracking, the prayer booths receive over 100,000 callers per week on average.

Each prayer booth comes with specific instructions, including a disclaimer of religious intent and public safety that was installed in each booth.

These instructions include directions for each caller on acceptable ways to use the booth.

These booths are also installed with a special kneelbar, used by the caller to position himself or herself within.

After issuing their ‘prayer’, the caller is asked to return the kneelbar to an upright position.

According to city officials, the new phone booths led to decrease of crime in the surrounding areas in near proportionate manner to the number of people using the prayer booths.

With such favorable trends, city council was quick to appropriate more land as ‘park space’ to install these ‘public service monuments of arts and counseling to the people of Kansas City’.

The United States is home to a Muslim minority of between six to eight million.

Muslims pray five times a day, with each prayer made of a series of postures and movements, each set of which is called a rak‘ah.

The five prayer times are divided all through the day which starts with Fajr prayer at dawn.

Along with daily prayers, Muslim can offer du`a or supplication to Allah at anytime during day or night.

“When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calleth on Me: Let them also, with a will, Listen to My call, and believe in Me: That they may walk in the right way,” Surah 2 Verse 186, Noble Qur’an.
